BlueScope partners with the Association of Siamese Architects to launch the BlueScope Design Award 2021, seeking outstanding building design submissions for a total prize pool of over 750,000 Baht.

NS BlueScope (Thailand) Co., Ltd. collaborates with The Association of Siamese Architects under the Royal Patronage to organize the “BlueScope Design Award 2021,” inviting students and architects to submit building design works under the concept of “The Sustainability of Coated Steel Buildings.” The aim is to find exceptional designs that creatively and sustainably incorporate coated metal products and color-coated steel or metal sheets. The total prize value is over 750,000 Baht, along with certificates of recognition.

Ms. Maneenuch Kongachapat, Vice President of Marketing at NS BlueScope (Thailand) Co., Ltd. stated, “The BlueScope Design Award 2021 arises from the collaboration between NS BlueScope and the Association of Siamese Architects, aiming to promote education, research, and professional practice in architecture while supporting the design concept using environmentally friendly coated metal and color-coated steel materials that are recyclable, quick to install, and generate no waste during installation. This initiative also aims to increase public awareness of environmentally friendly materials. The competition is divided into two categories: The Sustainable of Coated Steel Buildings Design Contest, which invites experimental or in-progress designs from architecture students nearing graduation, as well as professional architects and designers, and The Sustainable of Coated Steel Buildings of the Year 2021/2022, which invites completed building designs from professional architects or project owners.”

Both categories of the competition are based on the concept of The Sustainability of Coated Steel Buildings. The judging panel will evaluate whether the submitted works creatively utilize coated metal products and color-coated steel in their designs, alongside the design concepts that meet sustainability criteria in all dimensions. NS BlueScope, a leader in the production of coated metal and color-coated steel, has been operating in Thailand for over 30 years, dedicated to creating and developing the best solutions related to coated metal and color-coated steel, contributing to a sustainable society. This aligns with the Association of Siamese Architects' goal to support architects and students entering this profession to enhance their potential, promote, support, and disseminate research and development for progress in architectural practice, and adapt to changes in the era, particularly concerning future societies that prioritize environmental issues and the efficient use of limited resources.

The works from both categories will be judged by a panel of three esteemed judges:
Judge 1: Ms. Jenny Webster from Law Architects (Australia), an expert in public space design with experience in using metal sheet materials and a winner of the BlueScope Design Award (Australia) 2020.
Judge 2: Mr. Winyu Vanichsiriroj, Architect and Board Member of the Thai Green Building Institute.
Judge 3: M.L. Warut Vorawan, an architect with multiple international awards and the Outstanding Architecture Award from the Association of Siamese Architects in 2021.

The total prize value is over 750,000 Baht, divided into The Sustainable of Coated Steel Buildings Design Contest, which awards a total of 250,000 Baht in cash along with certificates of recognition, and The Sustainable of Coated Steel Buildings of the Year 2021/2022, which awards a total of 500,000 Baht in cash along with certificates of recognition.

“Our company is ready to be part of driving society towards sustainable coexistence, recognizing the importance of creators and designers, including students studying design and architecture, as well as professional architects, starting from choosing environmentally friendly materials as the foundation of their design concepts. We hope that the BlueScope Design Award 2021 will serve as an important platform to elevate the design methods of buildings using coated metal and color-coated steel products in response to sustainable design and usage,” Ms. Maneenuch stated.
